Found alone and abandoned the young pittie was struggling to survive. Along with no food and water, she was fighting through the extreme pain of an injury. If she had not been found when she was, she would still be stuck in that torturous situation.
Alone With A Broken Body And Heart
Charlene came across a sad-looking pittie in Saint Lucia. Upon seeing her, Charlene’s heart shattered. She knew that she had to save this puppy and took her back to the shelter. To get her into the car they covered her in a towel, to ensure they did not get bitten. The puppy was shy and terrified, they did not know how she would react. Fortunately, the pittie seemed to know that she was being rescued and showed no resistance.
Battle Wounds And A Survivor Spirit
Taking the pittie, Willow, to the vet, they found out that she had a shattered pelvis. Willow was in excruciating pain and was in danger of paralysis. From the start, Charlene knew that Willow was a sweet and gentle dog. For now, she was timid and afraid. It was going to take time and patience to heal both her heart and her body. She was slowly progressing, now allowing Charlene to stroke her. Willow knew that she was safe now, she had help and her life was going to be a better one than before.
One Step At A Time
A few weeks later, Willow showed great progress. She was now able to take slow steps, walking by herself. Seeing the puppies in the shelter office her tail began to wag. Her true colors began to show through. Now walking around the shelter, she began to wag her tail upon seeing little puppies. Willow was beginning to feel better and felt joy enter back into her life. The team was overjoyed with the progress Willow had made.
The Next Big Chapter
At first, it was hard to find people willing to foster Willow. Due to her injury, many believed that she would be too much work. After a couple of weeks, the perfect family came along, proving that the wait was worth it. With her foster family, Willow learned of her newfound love for water. This was a great way to help her strengthen her legs. After a couple of days, she began to shine even brighter. Willow was getting stronger and happier every day. She loved her new family and they loved her, so much so that they realized that there was no way they were letting Willow go. Willow had found her forever home and everyone was overjoyed. The once-broken pup was now a glowing, smiley, and happy girl.
