The Brutal Ways of Nature

Nature is beautiful and amazing. Nature is also brutal and ruthless – the survival of one animal hinges on the death of another.

Although our hearts break for this buffalo, it’s just as necessary for this lion to score a meal.

Should a lion starve, it would affect the whole savannah. It would lead to the overpopulation of certain species, which in turn would lead to the depletion of vegetation—soon, everything would be chaos.

The Famous Lion Strategy

The scene illustrates a tactic commonly employed by lions: they approach a herd and cause chaos with the intention confusing the babies and making them separate from the safety of their herd.

Once detached from the herd, they become easy targets and an easy meal.

Just a Tiny Baby Buffalo Fending For Itself

This poor little baby buffalo is sadly completely defenseless. Frustrating enough, its family is even less than half a mile away. But being a baby, it still lacks the speed that could potentially save it from the looming and hungry lion.

The male lion edges closer and closer. Even though we deep down know that this lion will and must eat, there’s still a tiny bit of hope left for the baby buffalo to make an escape.
