Sadly things aren’t looking bright for this buffalo: the video shows an injured buffalo facing a whole army of Komodo dragons Even facing one of them would’ve been a life-or-death-situation; but a whole army is basically a death sentence.
Other than that, it seems as if they’re on a farm – it makes us wonder if the buffalo has been let in on purpose to provide a meal for the Komodo dragons? What do you think?
Why You Should Be Scared of Komodo Dragons
Komodo dragons are not your average reptile. As the largest living lizards, they can reach lengths of up to 10 feet and weigh more than 300 pounds. Other than their frightening size, they have powerful limbs, and sharp claws. Komodo dragons can be aggressive, especially when hungry or threatened.
Although deadly human attacks are rare – they have occurred multiple times.
Not the Strongest Bite – But Deadly Nonetheless
The bite force of Komodo dragons is actually quite weak compared to crocodiles and other reptiles – but they have other strengths that make it lethal.
Instead, they tear at their prey with incredible force, using their claws and sharp, curved teeth. Once they’ve bitten, they rip away flesh and muscle, producing major blood loss and shock, and then they utilize their powerful neck muscles to shake vigorously side to side.
A Ferocious Meat Lover
Komodo dragons are carnivores with an appetite as big as their size.
An adult dragon can eat up to 80% of its body weight in a single feeding session! Their diet primarily consists of carrion, but they also hunt live prey. Typically, they eat a huge meal in one sitting which can sustain them for weeks without another meal.
This can include anything from birds and smaller lizards to large mammals like the buffalo in the video.
Wrapping Up
Although this is a tragic situation for the injured buffalo it’s also the course of nature – komodo dragons need to eat too.
