On a cold, rainy day in Brazil, something truly heartwarming unfolded outside the window of Mayane Rodrigues’ apartment. From her view above, she noticed a young girl walking home from school, her umbrella shielding her from the downpour. What Rodrigues saw next was a scene she wouldn’t soon forget.
The Young Girl Who Stopped for a Stray
As the girl walked along the wet street, she suddenly paused. Setting down her umbrella, she removed her jacket and knelt down. At her feet was a soaked and shivering stray puppy, clearly in need of help. With no hesitation, the girl wrapped the tiny dog in her jacket and carefully scooped her up into her arms.
“It all happened so quickly,” Rodrigues shared later. “It was very emotional to watch.”
A Heart of Gold
The girl, as Rodrigues would soon learn, was 13-year-old Cibely Stiegelmair. Cibely had just finished a long day at school and was on her way home when she spotted the helpless puppy. She knew she couldn’t leave it there, alone and vulnerable in the storm.
“I was startled when she arrived with the puppy,” Cibely’s mother, Rejane, recounted. “She was soaked, and there was blood on her shirt. At first, I thought she had been hurt, but she told me it was from the puppy. The poor thing had a minor injury, but it wasn’t too serious.”
Love Heals All Wounds
Cibely’s actions were a reflection of her compassionate nature. “Cibely has always had a very good heart,” her mom said. “She feels deeply for stray animals and often wishes she could take them all in.”
The puppy, whom Cibely named Pretinha, was soon cleaned up, fed, and treated for her small injuries. Wrapped in love and care, she quickly began to recover. Cibely’s family welcomed the little dog into their home with open arms, making Pretinha part of their family.
A Brighter Future for Pretinha
No one knows exactly how Pretinha came to be stranded on the sidewalk that day, but her future now looks much brighter, all thanks to Cibely’s selflessness. For Pretinha, that rainy day turned out to be the luckiest of her life.
As Pretinha happily settles into her new life, Cibely’s family beams with pride. “We’ve always been proud of Cibely,” Rejane shared. “But now, even more so.”
The Power of Kindness
Cibely’s story serves as a beautiful reminder of how small acts of kindness can change lives. On that gloomy day, when others might have passed by without a second thought, Cibely saw a creature in need and offered her warmth and compassion. In doing so, she became Pretinha’s angel.
