The house felt different without them. A week can be long when you don’t understand why they’re gone. She sat by the window, ears alert, eyes watching. Every car that passed made her tail twitch. But it wasn’t them. She waited because that’s what love does. She waited because they always came back.

The Ones She Loves Most

She loves everyone in the family, but my mom and dad? They’re special. She follows them, watches them, listens to them. While they were gone, she barely moved from her spot by the door. Me and my brother played with her, but it wasn’t the same. She wanted them. She needed them. So, she waited.

The Moment She Knew

Then, at last, a familiar sound. A car pulling up. She knew before we did. Her ears perked, her body tensed. A second later, she exploded with joy. Tail wagging, paws dancing, body wiggling in that way only she can. She had waited, and now they were here. She was home again.

A Joy That Can’t Be Contained

She didn’t just greet them. She celebrated them. She twirled, she jumped, she ran in circles. She pressed her body against them, soaking up every touch, every word. This wasn’t just happiness. It was love in motion. She had missed them with every beat of her heart, and now that they were here, she couldn’t hold it in.

Not Just A One-Time Thing

The first time, I thought it was just excitement from missing them. But then it happened again. And again. Every time they left, she waited. Every time they returned, she danced. It wasn’t a fluke. It was who she was. My mom and dad were her favorite people, and she would always be waiting.

Love That Never Fades

Some dogs forget. Some dogs move on. But not her. She remembers, she loves, she waits. A week or a day, it doesn’t matter. She’ll be by the window, watching, ears up, tail still. And the moment she sees them, the dance begins again. Because love, real love, never fades. It just waits.
