When Fig was first adopted from Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, as a kitten, everyone thought he had found his forever home. But life took an unexpected turn for this sweet cat. Seven years later, his family returned him to the shelter because they were moving to another country and found the process of bringing him along too difficult. For Fig, who had known nothing but love and comfort with his family, it must have felt like his world was turned upside down.
Adjusting to Life Back at the Shelter
The shelter staff were heartbroken to see Fig return, especially knowing he had spent his entire life with his family. A viral TikTok video captured the moment Fig arrived at the shelter, looking lost and confused as he stared at the unfamiliar surroundings. Adding to the heartbreak, Fig turned eight while at the shelter, spending his birthday alone in his enclosure instead of with a family to celebrate with him.
