Thankfully, the rescuer quickly found two of the puppies in the grass nearby, but the other three were still missing. Eventually, she found them, huddled together behind a barbed wire fence, trembling and clearly terrified, but was unable to reach them through the fence.

Using the youngest pup’s call to coax them out of the fenced areas, miraculously, the puppies responded and slowly made their way back to the tent.

After what felt like an eternity, but was only an hour and a half, the rescuer’s team arrived. The team finally managed to transport all five puppies to a nearby veterinary clinic, taking another 2 hours. These were all critical hours lost that could have put the puppies at risk having not received medical attention.

Arriving at the clinic after sundown, the veterinarians wasted no time examining the puppies. Their swollen bellies were a clear sign of worms, and they also had diarrhea, bacterial infections, and scabies. It was clear that if the puppies had been left alone in the muddy field, they would have lost all their body heat and probably would not have made it through the night. The doctors immediately began treatment.

Day by day, the puppies began to recover. And with their health, their trust in the rescuer grew. The once terrified puppies slowly grew into lively, confident little dogs.
