Authorities found 10 dead animals—nine sugar gliders and one snake—inside a Long Island home. The house was filled with filth, towering piles of trash, and a suffocating stench. Rescuers also discovered 20 surviving animals trapped in horrific conditions.
Drugs, Hoarding, and Extreme Neglect

Alongside the animal cruelty, investigators found crack cocaine, MDMA, and drug paraphernalia. The homeowner, Cazandra Nucci, had created an environment unsafe for both animals and humans. Officials later declared the house unfit for habitation.
Charges Against the Homeowner

Nucci faces multiple counts of animal cruelty, as well as drug possession charges. She is set to appear in court on February 28. If convicted, she could face severe legal consequences for the mistreatment of these animals.
Rescue and Rehabilitation Efforts

Rescuers removed 11 sugar gliders and nine cats from the home. These animals will receive medical care, rehabilitation, and a chance to be adopted into loving homes. Local shelters are working to find them safe environments.
The Importance of Reporting Animal Cruelty

Animal hoarding often goes unnoticed until conditions become extreme. Reporting signs of neglect—such as strong odors, malnourished animals, or overcrowded spaces—can save lives and prevent suffering.
How to Help and Take Action

You can help by supporting animal rescue organizations, adopting rescued pets, and advocating for stronger animal welfare laws. If you suspect animal cruelty, report it to local authorities immediately. Every report can make a difference.
