As per tradition for all officers who retire, a K9 officer named Faust received an emotional final radio call honoring him on his last shift before retirement. Paying tribute to a loyal and brave officer who served not only his community but the country for 8 strong years!
At Your Service
Faust, a beloved German Shepherd, served in the BNSF Railway Police Force in Texas. For 8 years he served his community and country as an Explosive Detective and Patrol Dog alongside his handler, Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer.
Retirement
To honor this K9 officer’s courageous contribution to keeping the community safe he received an emotional and well-deserved final radio call on the day of his retirement on 3 March 2017.
The Final Call
On his last day of work, riding with his beloved partner and handler for a final time. Faust was unaware of the beautiful tribute on its way to celebrate his remarkable service in the police force.
Emotional Moment
In the video, we see K9 Officer Faust and his handler, Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer sitting in their patrol vehicle as the radio call came through.
Kiss
As the dispatcher ends off the call we hear Faust whimpering and see his handler overwhelmed by emotion. In the purest form of love and respect, Schaffer leans over and kisses his beloved K9 partner.
The Tribute
“K-9 partner Faust just completed his last shift after serving as an Explosions detection and police service canine for eight years and one day, and he is now officially retired. Faust, thank you for your service to the BNSF Railway, the communities you’ve served, and most importantly, for serving and protecting your handler. Now, we wish you a well, healthy, and happy retirement. Radio clear.”
Life After Service
After retirement, Faust became an official member of Schaffer’s family. Where he enjoyed a happy retirement for 3 years before passing away in 2020 at 13 years old. After his passing, he was inducted into the We Ride To Provide (WRTP) Hall of Fame – and his legacy will live forever.
