A kitten needed to be rescued from a storm drain – that isn’t always a walk in the park. Stormy the kitten made sure of that. Let us find out more!
The Call for Help
Last week, Somerset Regional Animal Shelter received a distress call about a kitten trapped in a storm drain, meowing for assistance. Without a moment to spare, animal control officers Jesse Ostrowski and Karen Fisch sprang into action.
A Tricky Rescue Mission
Ostrowski and Fisch pulled out all the stops to free the kitten from the drain, but she proved to be elusive. Despite their tireless efforts, she remained just out of reach.
Undeterred they set a trap overnight, hoping to ensnare the furry escape artist. To their surprise, the following morning, there she was, perched atop the trap, eyeing them with curiosity.
The Final Stretch
They then attempted to capture the cunning kitten by putting nets down the storm drain. With these nets and plenty patience, they eventually managed to coax the kitten to safety after a couple more hours of strategic maneuvering.
A Happy Ending
Cold and trembling, but out of harm’s way, Stormy was finally in safe hands. Nina Bielli, a volunteer with Friends of Somerset Regional Animal Shelter, expressed relief at her timely rescue.
Wrapping Up with Kitten Rescued From Storm Drain
Now snug and on the mend at the shelter, Stormy’s true nature has emerged. Despite her escapade, she’s revealed herself to be a sweetheart craving affection, according to Ostrowski. In due time, once she’s received the tender loving care she deserves, Stormy will be ready for adoption, bringing joy to a lucky family.
In the end Stormy’s journey from a precarious drain to a warm shelter reminds me of the importance of compassion and perseverance in the face of adversity.
