Gaboon vipers have a varied but picky diet, mostly consisting of small mammals and birds. Their hunting technique heavily relies on the ambush strategy. Apparently while they wait for their gullible victim to get close. The Gaboon Viper can eat its meal at its own pace since the venomous bite renders its victim immobile. In the wild, gaboon vipers are thought to live for fifteen to twenty years.
