Over 100 Dogs Rescued From Florida’s Underground Dogfighting Horror

In the shadows of Florida, a dark under-the-radar operation unfolds, revealing a world of unspeakable cruelty. Dogfighting is a barbaric sport that uses barbaric training methods for human entertainment. The ASPCA rescued the day by sending in trained law enforcement and animal welfare professionals to save over a 100 dogs from their devastating reality. Their scars (some of them life-long) are a mark of their endurance through their harsh reality. The rescues are ongoing, because no dog deserves this kind of life.

Over 100 dogs were rescued in Florida after they had severe scars due to organized dog fighting. The ASPCA partnered with the St. Petersburg Police Department to provide support with investigation suspicious dogfighting operations across the state.

The ASPCA’s involvement in the case was essential as they offered legal assistance, as well as conducting veterinary, and behavioral forensic exams. The investigation was on the dogs that were suspected to be involved with the dogfighting.

Continuous Care for the Rescued Dogs

The ASPCA committed to caring for the dogs once their legal status is determined; they will take responsibility for ongoing shelters, medical care, and behavioral treatment. This support will be given at a specialized animal cruelty recovery facility.

Dogfighting is a barbaric and illegal practice. Humans force the poor dogs into violent fights for their entertainment and profit for the spectators. These fights often lead to severe injuries or even death. The dogs undergo astonishing training which involves starvation and physical abuse.

Dogfighting affects more than just the animals involved but it contributes to increased violence and criminal activity in communities. The normalization of cruelty to these animals can desensitize people to violence.

Dogfighting remains a widespread issue, despite efforts to stop it. The ASPCA estimates tens of thousands of people are involved. And the saddest of it all is the dogs’ suffering for human entertainment.
