They were right to name him Chance because it was Chance which brought this little pup drenched in motor oil help and hope of survival from a horrible fate had none arrived. In Montgomery, Alabama, a dog named Chance was found in tragic condition, drenched in motor oil, and barely hanging on. Abandoned and severely injured, his rescuers discovered him in a heartbreaking state, suffering from anemia, a broken pelvis, and hip injuries.
Race for Survival
Thankfully, Chance was discovered by the Montgomery Humane Society, who, on September 13th, found the poor tyke in a pitiful condition. Chance was immediately rushed to a vet, where he underwent life-saving treatment, including a blood transfusion and activated charcoal to rid his body of toxins. His situation was touch-and-go as the vets worked tirelessly to stabilize him.
Signs of Abuse
When vets examined Chance, they found, to their horror, that his predicament was not all he had suffered. Chance was also the victim of abuse, as the signs were evident. The little dog was suffering and starved. His injuries were not new, as his pelvis was broken in three places. The extent of his injuries suggested a prolonged period of neglect and abuse. It was unimaginable what type of human could have done such a thing to this adorable little dog.
Road to Recovery
At the vet centre, Chance was administered fluids, a blood transfusion, and activated charcoal to eliminate toxins from his body. Although the vets felt it was a touch-and-go case, Chance continued responding to the treatment. He turned out to be a real fighter and soon began recovering from his ordeal.
A Little Fighter
Despite his horrific condition, Chance has shown remarkable resilience. He began eating and gradually regaining strength, but he still has a long way to go before recovering fully. The Montgomery Humane Society declared on a Facebook post how the vets, including the center, were dedicated to helping this little champ heal.
Justice for Chance
The shelter has asked the community to come forward with any information about Chance’s previous owners or the person responsible for his suffering. They hope to hold those accountable for this act of cruelty. Speaking in an NBC interview, Kim Tears, head of the center, said:
“We’re asking for people from that community, if they’ve noticed anything on a Ring camera or have seen the dog in the neighborhood, any information that can be provided to us could help lead us to his previous owners or the individual that may have caused some of his suffering.”
Chance’s story is one of hope and survival, a testament to the rescuers’ dedication and this brave pup’s enduring spirit. Once Chance is well, he will be adopted and hopefully find a loving forever home.
