Apollo was found in San Bernardino, California, hiding in a bush, scared and suffering from a severe eye infection. His feral nature showed; he’d never known human contact. Blind and unsure, he cowered as rescuers worked to get him out. The first step was bringing him into safety, but his journey was just beginning.
Once rescued, Apollo was treated for mange and placed in a small crate. Keeping him confined was essential to prevent him from hiding. His fear was palpable, but he began to accept help because he had no other choice. His recovery would be slow, but his resilience began to shine through, even in the early days.
Trust Begins to Grow
Bathing Apollo daily became a necessity, especially as he struggled to find the litter box. These daily baths were crucial in building trust. It was during this time that Apollo began to let his guard down, allowing his rescuers to clean him and care for him. With each bath, he seemed to relax just a little more.
Despite early fears that he would lose both eyes, Apollo’s right eye began to heal. His blue eyes, once hidden by infection, slowly came into view. With his sight improving, Apollo’s personality started to emerge. He began playing with other kittens and exploring his surroundings with a cautious but curious attitude.
A Happy Ending
Today, Apollo is a happy, healthy cat. He spends his days lounging on beds, seeking tickles, and enjoying life with his rescuers. Though they never intended to keep him, Apollo has become part of the family. His recovery, from a scared, blind feral cat to a beautiful, blue-eyed companion, is nothing short of remarkable.
The Journey of Patience and Care
Rescuing feral cats requires time, patience, and love. Apollo’s story is a testament to the resilience of animals when given a chance. His transformation shows that, even in the worst conditions, there’s always hope. Apollo’s rescuers are glad they took that chance on him, knowing now that he is a cherished part of their lives.
