Someone recently found himself in a heartwarming situation when duty called him to rescue a stranded kitten from a precarious situation – Zackery Kelly, a firefighter with a penchant for cats.
The Rescue
When the Eagle Pass Fire Department received a distress call about a kitten trapped in a manhole, it was clear who was up for the task. Kelly, known affectionately as the station’s cat aficionado, suited up without hesitation.
Kelly reached the bottom of the manhole and saw the small gray kitten. Its cries were loud in the shadows. Despite the difficulties of the rescue, Kelly came out successful. Evidently he was holding the terrified cat in his arms.
The Naming
Upon surfacing, Kelly was met by a grateful family. They were so eager to adopt the rescued little kitten. The little girl decided to name the kitten after its rescuer. Thus inspired by Kelly’s bravery. They settled on the name “Kelly” in honor of the firefighter’s last name.
The Aftermath
Being named after a kitten was a new experience for Kelly. He found it was also very touching. Evidently Kelly is happy that the kitten, who is now named after him, has found a loving home.
