McKenna, a roaming lioness has caught 6 dogs in 7 days from their residential homes in Ongata Rongai, Kenya. Her hunting spree has the town in a frenzy, but who wouldn’t be with knowing that one of the Big 5 is roaming your streets? Read on to see her caught in action.
Caught In The Act
The lioness was captured on CCTV cameras outside a home in the Elmeut Estate in Ongata Rongai in Kenya. The video shows her easily jumping on the wall and scanning the premises. Whereafter, she jumps inside the yard and emerges less than 2 minutes later with the family’s pet rottweiler between her teeth.
20 Seconds
It took the lioness a mere 20 seconds to kill the dog and jump over the fence with the carcass in her mouth. One of the most shocking parts of this event is that the family was inside their home when the whole incident played out. Having no idea that Jaci, their 165-pound rottweiler was being hunted.

Only Footprints Left Behind
Clear footprints of the lioness were still visible in the mud outside the family’s home the next day. The heartbroken family says that Jaci, the rottweiler they lost to the roaming lioness, was a part of the family for two years. But they are relieved their other three dogs are still alive and well.
Not The First Attack
The people of this small town claim that this absurd attack was not the first! Over 7 days the lioness had entered 6 different homes, claiming 6 different dogs as her meals. It was also discovered that McKenna takes her prey to an underdeveloped plot in the area to peacefully have her meals.
The Big Search
Kenya Wildlife Services Rangers have launched an operation to find the roaming lioness and bring her back to the Nairobi National Park to ensure the safety of pets and people in the town. For now, the town lives in fear and tries to ensure the safety of those walking around and night and early morning – especially children going to school.

Where Did The Lioness Come From?
People in the area claim that the small river separating the Nairobi National Park and tier town is worrisome. As wild animals can easily cross the river into the residential area in search of prey. And is most likely how the lioness made her way to the homes to catch the dogs.
Trackers
The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) confirmed the incident of the lioness catching dogs from homes and deployed a team of rangers to search for McKenna. They are going through all of the bushes and thickets in the area looking for her footprints and any blood trails that she might have left behind.
Caution, Caution, and Caution
The KWS urges all residents in the area to apply extra caution when walking alone and to keep their eye out for the roaming lioness. And if they see any indication of her to immediately report to authorities so that they can step in.
Special Tracking Team
A specialized team from the Problematic Animal Management team has also recently joined the Rangers in the search for McKenna. They plan to safely relocate the stray lioness to the Nairobi National Park where she can hunt freely while the Kenyan town remains safe!

Silver Lining
However, many women in the area do not want McKenna to be captured. These women claim the stray lioness a heroine who brought their families closer! Due to McKenna, their husbands are home by 6 pm – in time for dinner and family time.

Roaming Lioness
The stay lioness has yet to be captured and has the whole town of Ongata Rongai, Kenya in a flurry. Although we hope no more dogs get injured and McKenna is safe, we can’t help but smile at the ladies who love having their husbands at home!
