Despite the sea lion trusting people to help them, it’s often people who cause them harm. From getting entangled in fishing nets to facing the brunt of marine pollution, sea lions are often helpless when it comes to protecting themselves.

It is believed that Amber had been attacked by something in the water and appeared to be starving. Zusho and his friends quickly took Amber to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach for assistance. The Pacific Marine Mammal Center spokesperson, Krysta Higuchi, mentioned that they often see cases of malnutrition, dehydration, entanglements, boat wounds, gunshot wounds, parasites, and other illnesses in marine animals. In Amber’s case, it is believed she was attacked, but the exact cause of her injury is yet to be specified. Amber is now released back into the ocean.

The incident with the hurt sea lion is not just an isolated event. It’s a call to action. As stewards of the planet, it’s our responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all its inhabitants. Whether it’s being more mindful of our actions, reducing marine pollution, or aiding distressed animals, every small step counts.

It is nice to see we are not all morons. Helping the sea lion shows we have a heart for animals, a bonding, between human being and animals is a luxury not often seen.

Beautiful story, yet I wonder if Amber had been a marlin, tuna, or halibut would she have gone to rehab or the grill? We need to remember that ALL animals deserve our empathy and respect. The only way to do that is by being vegan.

Seems like a very fodder filled story with no real substance. Apparently someone had to turn something in and this is what we got.
