Sudden Change In Puppies Behaviour Leads Heartbroken Parents To Discover A Rare Brain Disorder

This playful and delightful puppy suddenly experienced a dramatic drop in his mood. With a hunched back and cries of pain, the puppy’s owners rushed to the vet, panic rising. After insisting on more tests a heartbreaking discovery came to light.

The Tail of Joy 

3 months before, a couple adopted a little puppy called Murphy. He was playful and energetic, as a puppy should be. Teasing his sibling and being showered in love by his 2-legged-parents, Murphy had a wonderful and happy puppy life. There was no reason to suspect anything at all. 

A Sudden Change

One morning something changed. Murphy seemed different, more sinister. His worried parents knew that something wasn’t right. With a sudden drop in energy, Murphy no longer felt playful. His owners noticed him dropping his head back and hunching over when he walked. Little Murphy’s eyes would shut and he would cry out in pain. Extremely concerned and worried about their baby, his owners took him to the vet that night. 

From Playtime To Panic

Initially, the vets told them that it was a neck sprain, nothing more. Murphy’s worried mum knew that something else was happening, insisting it was more than that. After extra tests and an MRI scan, it was announced that Murphy had a rare condition. Hydrocephalus is a condition where a cyst in the brain blocks the fluid flow, causing a ‘flood’ in the brain. The little guy needed instant brain surgery.

Strong Souls And Unbreakable Bonds

6 hours later the surgery was finished and a great success. Hearing that her little baby was going to be perfectly fine, his mum broke down in tears. With a strong bond before, it was now unimaginable. Coming home the same day, there was a noticeable change in Murphy’s behavior. 4 weeks later he was back to his old self, running around and playing with his best buddy Milo. Everyone was able to breathe again, knowing that little Murphy was ok and out of the woods.
