Yellowstone National Park is home to a diverse range of wildlife. Also, at this amazing park, visitors can encounter various animals in their natural habitats. So, let’s explore seven remarkable animals you can see in Yellowstone!

#7 American Bison

Bison roam freely across the park’s grasslands, and watching a herd is a highlight for many visitors. As a result, the American Bison is an iconic symbol of Yellowstone, and for good reason. However, it is important to remember that bison are dangerous, so they must be watched from afar.

#6 Grizzly Bears

Grizzly bears are one of Yellowstone’s most famous inhabitants. They forage in the park’s forests and meadows, sometimes with cubs in tow. So, if you want to spot this animal, spring and early summer are the best times to go.

#5 Gray Wolves

Gray wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone in 1995. Since then, they become a vital part of the park’s ecosystem. Now that we have managed to get these wolves back into the park, spotting a wolf pack in the wild is surely an unforgettable experience.

Elk are abundant in Yellowstone and frequently seen in open meadows. In fact, there are so many that they are sometimes spotted crossing roads. This makes them a common sight for visitors driving through the park, a sight I was fortunate enough to witness on my trip to Yellowstone! Additionally, during the fall, elks’ bugling calls are a common sound that can be heard echoing through the trees.

#3 Bald Eagles

Bald eagles nest in Yellowstone and are a magnificent sight, so it makes sense that this bird is the national animal of the United States. Often, these eagles can be seen soaring above the rivers and lakes looking for their next meal. Undoubtedly, these birds of prey are a symbol of American wildlife.

#2 River Otters

River otters are playful and energetic residents of Yellowstone’s waterways. Consequently, if you’re lucky enough to spot one, they can be seen swimming and hunting for fish. Because these guys are so playful, they inspire joy in people everywhere.

Moose are the largest members of the deer family found in Yellowstone. In fact, they can grow up to 7ft tall! They prefer wetland areas and can be seen walking majestically near lakes and streams. However, these creatures dislike being disturbed, so visitors must treat them with the utmost respect.
