Obie isn’t your average Dachshund. He’s a larger-than-life example of the breed. He tips the scales at a whopping 77 pounds. To put that into perspective, that’s more than twice the weight of a typical Dachshund.

Nora Vanatta, a compassionate animal lover with a background in animal science and nutrition, stepped in to help Obie when she heard about his plight. What she found was beyond her expectations—a Dachshund so heavy that his health was in jeopardy. But Nora was undeterred by the challenge.

Under Nora’s care, Obie started his weight loss journey. Through a carefully curated diet and tailored exercise regimen, Obie shed an impressive 44 pounds in just eight months. His transformation was nothing short of inspiring.

But Obie’s journey didn’t end with weight loss. Excess skin, a common issue after significant weight loss in dogs, posed a new obstacle. Obie underwent surgery to remove the surplus skin.

Under the expert care of Dr. Alon Kramer at Oregon Expert Vets, Obie’s surgery was a success. With 2.5 pounds of excess skin removed, Obie was finally free. His recovery was smooth, thanks to the vigilant care provided by Nora and the veterinary team.
