Moose are have huge antlers. These antlers can span up to 6 feet in width. They weigh as much as 40 pounds each. These antlers are the largest of any deer species. They are used for dominance and a tool for defense.

Weighing in at around 1,200 pounds on average, moose are among the largest land mammals in North America! Despite their massive size, they are surprisingly agile. They can sprint at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. Additionally, the can also swim long distances with ease.

Moose have a long and bulbous snout. They use this snout which is adapted for foraging in deep snow during the winter. Their dark brown fur is insulating. This allows them to thrive in the harsh climates of Alaska!

With disproportionately long legs compared to their body size, moose are well-suited for wading through deep snow. Their legs, with hinged joints and elongated limbs, makes it possible for them to navigate rough landscapes and escape from predators.
