Importance of Playtime
Playing is a key indicator of intelligence in animals, and providing toys in zoos serves multiple purposes. Enrichment activities promote mental and physical stimulation, encouraging natural behaviors and enhancing overall well-being. Toys help alleviate stress and boredom in captivity by allowing animals to express their instincts healthily. Additionally, certain toys promote physical exercise, while others challenge cognitive abilities, mimicking activities like hunting and foraging. Observing animals with these toys also aids zookeepers in understanding their natural behaviors, ultimately improving care. Furthermore, zoos use these activities to educate visitors about animal behaviors and adaptations, enriching the overall experience.

Nora is such a curious and playful polar bear. With this new toy being introduced into her daily life, it serves multiple purposes and encourages her natural behaviors. As Nora interacts with all her toys, especially her new one, this should alleviate any stress or boredom she may feel, but most importantly allow for her to express her instincts in a healthy way while in captivity.
