Many animals are so unique  that they are only found within the specific geographic boundaries of the Bahamas.

Let's take a look at the most endangered ones!

1

Bahamas Rock Iguana

These reptiles are endemic to the island of Exuma and Andros at the southwest end of the Bahamas.

2

Bee Hummingbird

Females in this species weigh around 2.6 grams, while males weigh around 1.9 grams

3

Bigeye Tuna

They are unique in that they can survive in deep cold waters with low oxygen levels.

4

Black Grouper

They have a length which is 3.5 times larger than the depth of their body - giving them a compressed shape.

5

Brown Pelican

It is one of the three species that dive inside the water to feed.

6

Buff-Breasted Sandpiper

These shorebirds migrate very long distances throughout central North America during their non-breeding seasons.

7

Cat Island Turtle

They are omnivores and feed on fruits and small fish, frogs, snails, and invertebrates in the water.

8

Crossband Rockfish

It eats other fish like brown Chromis, silversides, and striped parrotfish.
