Penguin Chicks Rescued by Unlikely Hero

The video begins with a group of Emperor penguin chicks encountering a giant petrel, a large predatory bird.

The chicks try to flee, but running is not their strong point.

A slip is all the petrel needs to grab one of the chicks by its neck feathers.

The chicks form a defensive circle, preparing to stand their ground.

Despite their chick-like appearance, they are close to a meter tall.

One of the chicks towers to full height, protecting those behind him.

His defiance buys time, and a standoff ensues.

Then, as if from nowhere, an Adélie penguin appears.

The Adélie penguin is known as the feistiest penguin in the world, and even petrels don’t mess with them.
