Did you know that the Happy Feet crew were Emperor Penguins?
The Emperor Penguin is the largest in the penguin-family
And the fifth largest bird!
An adult measures 42 – 47 inches in height and 50 – 100 lb in weight.
They're called "emperor" for a reason!
Adult Emperors continuously travel between the ocean and their olony
They spend half of their lives in the ocean, half on ice.
The Emperor Penguin is endemic to Antarctica, the very south of our planet.
Mostly they prey on fish, Antarctic silverfish being their most frequent catch
They're able to dive to depths of 160 feet.
Female lays a single egg early in June
Afterwards, the male incubates the egg for up to 4 months - without eating!
In the wild they live to be 20 years old, and in captivity they sometimes reach twice that age.
Emperor's are freakishly strong.
Once it took 6 adult men to capture a male Emperor Penguin.
