In a recent spectacle that awakened onlookers, a Great Black-backed Gull  on the Welsh island of Skomer was captured on video swallowing a whole  rabbit in a single gulp.

This extraordinary event offers us a glimpse into these majestic birds’  dietary habits and behavior, shedding light on their role in the  ecosystem.

The Great Black-backed Gull, scientifically known as Larus marinus, is the largest member of the gull family

These magnificent birds have a wingspan reaching up to an impressive six feet, making them true masters of the skies.

Furthermore, known for their striking appearance with jet-black wings  and snow-white bodies, they are often a commanding presence in coastal  areas.

Gulls are opportunistic feeders, and their diet can be quite diverse, adapting to food availability in their habitat.

While they are commonly associated with scavenging for fish and marine  invertebrates,

the video of a Great Black-backed Gull swallowing a  rabbit highlights their ability to adapt to varying circumstances.

The inclusion of rabbits in a seagull’s diet might come as a surprise to many.
