Animals that are Unsung Heroes to Man

TOP 10

Although humans around the world do their part to protect the environment, many animals contribute equally by performing certain roles in nature. Let’s take a closer look at the top 10 animal heroes that man will not be able to do without.

BATS

Bats offer a lot of benefits to humans, including the control they exert over insect pests. These nocturnal hunters can eat 1,000 insects per hour and consume many types of flying pests that cause damage to crops or spread disease.

FROGS

Frogs play an important role in many ecosystems, as they form a crucial part of the food chain. Frogs eat insects that carry disease and their tadpoles help keep waterway clean.

BIRDS

The list of bird species is endless, with each one playing a vital role in nature. Birds perform roles that help keep ecosystems balanced by controlling insect populations, pollinating plants, dispersing seeds and cycling nutrients.

BEES

Bees are the one specie that almost every other animal species on the planet rely upon. Without bees flying around and pollinating plants, a large number of plants would not grow.

PLANKTON

Plankton produce half the oxygen in our atmosphere by absorbing much of the carbon dioxide present on oceans' surfaces—which reduces greenhouse gases. They also help replenish nutrients by breaking down dead organic matter

BEAVERS

These meticulous rodents are widely regarded as “nature’s engineers.” That’s because they create, modify, and maintain habitats and ecosystems. This consequently has a larger impact on the diversity of any biome.
