Wolfs Eyes Are Too Big For His Stomach

Young Wolf’s Ambitions

The young wolf’s eyes were bigger than his ability to cart off one of those cubs! Despite weighing no more than 65 pounds, he had learned from his parents that female bears with more than one cub were easier targets. An adult wolf, weighing around 120 pounds, could have picked up a cub and outrun the mother bear. But the mother bear was aware of this. Therefore she was unconcerned and watched as the larger of her two cubs repeatedly charged at the wolf. The rest of the wolf pack never arrived… This left the young wolf with nothing to do but harass the mother bear and her cubs!

The Mother Bear’s Calm

The mother bear remained calm and unconcerned, knowing that the young wolf was not a huge threat to her cubs. This was due to the fact that one wolf, as young and small as this one, lacked the strength and speed to successfully take one of her cubs. The larger cub’s bravery in charging at the wolf also added to her sense of security.

Lone Wolf’s Frustration

The young wolf’s frustration increased as he realized he was no match for the determined mother bear and her protective cubs! Without the support of the rest of his pack, he could only attempt to harass the bears. His ambitions far exceeded his capabilities.

Lessons Learned

As they say, you live and you learn… And so the young wolf did. Furthermore, he learned the importance of pack support and the limitations of his own strength and speed. Watching the mother bear’s calm and the cub’s courage, he also gained insights into the challenges of hunting larger prey.
