Sometimes it can be nerve-racking to introduce a new pet to your current pets. Especially when they are animals that don’t usually get along. This woman lovingly saved a lost kitten, bringing her home to care for and raise. The scary part…How would her pitbull react? Animals aren’t always as they seem and sometimes they surprise us.
Adopting The Abandoned
The sad truth is that hundreds of thousands of animals are abandoned around the world every day. I can’t even fathom how many that would be in a year. Even with this happening, more are born daily in the streets and from breeders. These numbers will keep rising if nothing is done to help.
Adopt Don’t Shop
Every year around 6.3 million animals come to shelters within the U.S. You saw right, MILLION. Worldwide shelters are constantly running out of space with so many animals coming in. With this space running out the heartbreaking fact is that many of these animals are euthanized/put down.
Kitten Rescue
Recently, a little kitten was rescued by a loving woman. She found the little kitten abandoned in a bush. The woman posted a video on her TikTok, @Macyfit, expressing her concerns about bringing the kitten home to her recently adopted pit bull. She had a valid concern, worried about how the pit bull may react to a new little kitten joining her home.
The Pit Bull Image
Pit Bulls are often perceived as vicious, mean, and violent dogs. Rather than looking into their ownership and how they were raised or handled, governments have labeled Pit Bulls as dangerous. Personally, I disagree with this. I have met many sweet and gentle Pit Bulls, the stereotype should not be generalized but rather tagged to specific dogs. Laws put in place have resulted in the unnecessary euthanasia of hundreds of Pit Bulls.
Not All Pit Bulls
Just like the pup in this image, some Pit Bulls are sweet, smiley, and loving friends. The pup in this story is another example. With any pets, introducing another animal to the household can bring up feelings of anxiety. Animals are territorial by nature and at first, a newcomer may seen as a threat, especially if they are stealing all of the attention.
A Warm Welcome
Sometimes we experience the opposite outcome of what we thought would happen. For example, when your friend can’t cook and one day makes a toasted cheese sandwich that isn’t burnt. When Macy brought her newfound kitten home, she wasn’t sure what to expect, but sticking to his sweet nature, her Pit Bull welcomed the new friend.
Pawsitive Outcomes
Macy rescued her Pit Bull from a shelter only days before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Now he welcomes in an abandoned kitten, perhaps knowing how that abandonment feels. The 2 rescues are now good friends, spending their time playing and sleeping together. The outcome of this growing family is such a heart-warming and pawsitive story.
Expect The Unexpected
Dogs and cats are stereotypically not friends. However, sometimes we can see the unexpected. Not only does this story fight the stereotypes of Pit Bulls but also the stereotype of dogs and cats being mortal enemies. Living peacefully as siblings, their companionship tells a story of hope, love, and survival. 2 fighters, 2 survivors, 2 lifelong friends.
A Light At The End Of The Shelter
I love watching, or reading, heartwarming stories about animals being rescued or adopted. You can see their faces light up with love and joy. Animals are truly the best friends that you could ask for. All of my animals are rescues and I love them more than life itself. We are so lucky to have these buddies.
Rescue The Rascals
These little rascals are in desperate need of homes. If not adopted they often face a heartbreaking end. Many shelters and vets encourage you to adopt rather than buy from breeders. Generally speaking, and in my personal experience, rescue animals result in the most loving, gentle, and loyal companions. They are so thankful for a better life and you become so thankful for their companionship.
