These lumbering giants of North America hold a special place in our hearts due to their imposing presence and the enigmatic allure they bring to the forests they call home.
Black bears are famous for their hibernation habits. During the cold winter months, they retreat to their dens to conserve energy and survive on their fat reserves.
Female black bears give birth to cubs in the den, usually in January or February. The cubs, weighing 8-12 ounces at birth, rely on their mother’s milk for nourishment during the early months.
