Almost 150 Rescued Tortoises Are Return to the Wild In Colombia

More than 100 macaw tortoises have been given a second chance at life after being rescued from illegal captivity. These tortoises, victims of wildlife trafficking, spent years in rehabilitation before being released into their natural habitat in Colombia. Their journey back to the wild is a testament to the power of conservation efforts.

These tortoises were taken from the wild and kept in captivity, often in poor conditions. Confined in small spaces and deprived of their natural environment, many suffered from malnutrition and stress. Wildlife organizations stepped in, rescuing them and providing the necessary medical care, nutrition, and rehabilitation to prepare them for freedom.
