After being sold by a breeder this little puppy, Grace, was noticeably very sick. Her owners were unable to afford treatment and soon gave her up. The vets were heartbroken with each test showing no results. They had no idea what was wrong with tiny Grace.
From Breeder To Broken
This little puppy, Grace, was sold to her first owners from a breeder. (Guys, adopt don’t shop). It was clear that Grace was very sick, she needed a lot of medications and treatments. Her owners soon realized that they could no longer afford these treatments. They contacted The Animal Pad, begging for help. Grace’s first night at The Animal Pad was heartbreaking. She was weak and lacking energy. Grace would simply lie down crying and whimpering.
Cries For Help
Grace’s foster family noticed that the only way to stop her from crying was to hold her. They would lovingly stay up all night with her, constantly checking if she was ok. Little Grace was incredibly skinny and uninterested in eating. Her condition seemed to worsen over time. On the rare occasion that she did eat something, the family would stand by cheering her on. (So cute!). The same went for the rare times that her little tail began to wag.
Signs Of Hope
After a couple of weeks, the family started seeing a rise in the pup’s energy. She began playing with the kids and showing more excitement. At first, she would only play lying down, still struggling to find the energy to walk or run around. It took a lot of encouragement and patience from her foster sisters, but soon she started running around during playtime. This progress caused great excitement for the foster family.
New Discoveries
It was during this time that the vets finally managed to discover what was wrong with the tiny puppy. It was simple, the breeder had never vaccinated little Grace. When she was sold she had distemper, a severe neurological disease. Although she was healing, the disease would have long-term effects on her health. Her head would constantly twitch, like a bobblehead. Despite this, Grace was an incredibly strong and loving dog.
She was an absolute joy to be around and loved her playtime. She had grown so much and was a true survivor. After everything that they had been through with Grace, this family had grown a strong bond with her. There was no way that they were going to let her go. She would spend her life with her 3 2-legged siblings and loving parents. Grace was going to live her best life.
