After being dumped and abandoned on someone’s property, this dog hid in the corner terrified. Constantly cowering away, the shelter knew that the terrified pup would need a lot of patience, love, and attention.

After being rescued from an abandoned property, this terrified girl went straight to a corner in the shelter. One of the shelter specialists sat near the corner for 30 minutes, waiting for the heartbroken girl to come near her but she never did. Finally, she was picked up and taken into the hallway, where she found another corner to hide in. However, she now allowed one of the team to come closer, even stroking her on the head.
Sending Out A Call For Help

The team realized that the shelter was not the best place for the dog to be. The scared girl, now named Piper, needed a foster. The shelter environment was not working for her and her recovery. That night the team put a message up on their platform and the next morning a volunteer came to pick up Piper. Her fear continued rising, and she hid behind the door, refusing to move. Piper needed a lot of convincing but finally went with her new foster mum, Angela.
Unsettled And Settling In

Angela promised Piper that she would be safe and that they would be friends. Once they arrived at the foster home Piper ran straight to a corner in the bathroom. The foster family was worried that Piper would stay there for days, but once they let out the other dogs Piper happily went to join them. An hour later Piper was running around and playing with the other dogs. She had turned into a puppy again, full of excitement and energy.
Living The Good Life

A month later Piper was a changed dog. The foster family could see that Piper quickly understood that this new life was good. She had good meals, and a wonderful family, and was showered in love. Piper enjoyed the constant cuddles and tummy rubs. She was gentle and showed such growth that the foster family melted. After a month they adopted Piper, knowing that their connection and love were too strong to let go of.
