The plan worked. The dogs entered, hungry but trusting. The doors shut, and they were safe. As he loaded them into the truck, he exhaled, a year’s worth of effort ending in relief. Stephanie, once wary and wild, now curled up like a lap dog. They were no longer strays. They were home.

Earning one dog’s trust had saved an entire pack. It took patience, understanding, and time—more than a year of showing up, waiting, and never forcing.
