When actress Naomi Watts met Gigi, a bouncy rescue pup from NYC Animal Care Centers, she had no idea she’d be swept into a day of oversized fun and puppy love. What started as a playful introduction turned into a heartwarming connection—with laughter, treats, and a reminder of just how powerful animal companionship can be.
A Rescue Pup with So Much Love to Give
Gigi’s story began with heartbreak—her previous family moved away and left her behind. But she didn’t let it dim her spirit. Full of energy and sweetness, Gigi caught the attention of The Dodo and soon found herself on a “dream date” with Naomi Watts. As soon as they met, Naomi was smitten: “She’s just got such a nice energy.”
Ball Pit Shenanigans Break the Ice
To kick off their date, Naomi and Gigi dove—literally—into a giant ball pit. At first, Gigi was unsure, but with some encouragement (and a few treats), she warmed up and joined the fun. “This is like therapy,” Naomi joked, laughing as Gigi leapt around. It didn’t take long for the pair to start moving in sync, building trust through play.
Bowling, But Make It Puppy-Friendly
Next on the oversized adventure: bowling. While Gigi wasn’t sure what to make of the giant pins, Naomi had a clever idea—peanut butter on the ball. Suddenly, bowling became a lot more interesting. Naomi laughed, “First dates never go quite how you plan them. But that’s the charm, right?”

After all the action, it was time to unwind with a doggy tea party. Gigi was treated to a pup cup loaded with whipped cream, which she dove into face-first. Naomi couldn’t stop giggling. Covered in cream, Gigi reminded her of Bing, her co-star in The Friend. “I completely fell in love with him,” Naomi said, clearly feeling that same spark with Gigi.

Naomi admired Gigi’s gentle nature and playful spirit. “She’s got such a wonderful disposition,” she said, brushing whipped cream from Gigi’s nose.
