When rescuers got the call, they didn’t expect what they would find. A small blonde dog was spotted hiding under bushes in a yard, frightened and alone. As they approached, they discovered she wasn’t truly alone. Tucked under her were six tiny puppies, freshly born, making this rescue even more urgent.

The mother dog, later named Carol, was protective. As soon as the rescuers got close, she bolted, leaving her puppies behind. Fear had gripped her, but her instinct to protect was strong. The team collected the pups and set out to bring her back, knowing she wouldn’t leave her little ones for long.

A Trap for Safety

The rescuers devised a plan. They set a humane trap with food to lure Carol back into the yard. After some time, she returned, her fear outweighed by her hunger and longing for her babies. The gate closed behind her, and she was safely caught. But her panic grew, thinking she had lost her puppies.

Once Carol was reunited with her pups, her anxiety eased. She curled up around them, the protective instinct in full force. The rescuers watched as her demeanor softened. She understood she was no longer alone in this strange yard. She had help now, and her family would be safe.

A New Beginning

Carol and her puppies were taken to a vet to ensure their health. After their check-up, they were sent to a foster home where Carol began to relax. She nursed her babies and let herself trust the humans who saved her. She was no longer the scared dog in the bushes but a mother with hope.

Thriving Together

Now settled in foster care, Carol and her puppies—named after characters from The Brady Bunch—are thriving. It will take time before they find their forever homes, but for now, they are safe, loved, and together. Carol’s transformation from scared to content is a reminder of the power of love and care.
