A woman out for her morning walk in San Antonio’s Far West Side ended up in the hospital after three dogs attacked her out of nowhere. It happened just before 9 a.m. on April 23, 2025, along Prescott Drive near Marbach Road — not exactly where you’d expect to be fighting for your life against a pack of dogs.

Witnesses say the dogs came charging from a nearby yard with no leash, no fence, and definitely no owner in sight. According to San Antonio Police, the woman was knocked to the ground and bitten repeatedly on her upper body. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, but officials haven’t released details on how badly she was hurt. Either way, it was bad enough to raise alarms across the neighborhood.

People living in the area are furious — and scared. One local said they’ve seen those same dogs roaming the streets before, but no one did anything about it. Now a woman’s in the hospital, and neighbors are asking why it took an attack for something to be done.

San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) and police officers are now involved, looking to track down the owner of the dogs. If they’re found to be strays, that’s one thing. But if someone let their pets run wild — and one or more of those dogs was involved in this attack — the owner could be facing some serious charges.

ACS confirmed that all three dogs have been picked up and are being held while the investigation unfolds. Their behavior is being evaluated, which basically means: if they’re found to be a danger, they could be put down. It’s a sad outcome all around — for the victim, the community, and even the dogs.

Leash Laws Exist for a Reason

Dog attacks aren’t unheard of in Texas, especially in areas where leash laws are loosely enforced. But this one is a brutal reminder that letting dogs roam isn’t just careless — it can be dangerous. San Antonio does have leash laws, and ACS is reminding people they’re not just suggestions. Your dog gets loose and hurts someone? You’re on the hook.

Locals are also being encouraged to report loose animals before something happens. It’s not about being the neighborhood snitch — it’s about preventing injuries like this. A simple phone call could stop another emergency room visit.

As of now, the woman is still recovering, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the dogs or their possible owner to come forward.
