What Was the Megalodon?

The Megalodon, or Carcharocles megalodon, was a ginormous shark that dominated the seas approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago. As the largest shark species known to have existed, they could reach lengths up to an estimated 60 feet—about three times the size of a great white shark, making them the true titans of the ocean.
