Found as a stray, this dog is partially paralyzed. He is unable to move his back legs, moving around by shuffling and guiding himself with his front legs. After being rescued the reason is uncovered but the chances of him being able to walk again are uncertain.
Shuffling Stray Found On The Beach

Unable to walk and extremely uncomfortable, this poor dog was found on the beach. He was a stray, shuffling along the streets with no one to help him. Beachfront Mutts Rescue took him in with the hope of giving him a better life. A visit to the vet revealed that the reason for his disability was a deformity in his spine. Whether he would walk again or not was a mystery weighing heavily on their hearts.
Looking for Comfort

An amazing volunteer, Rebekah, stepped forward to foster the pup, now named Loki. She aimed to give him all the help that she could. To help him strengthen his back legs they tried putting him in a sling. This had a harness on his lower back with a strap for Rebekah to lift his lower body. Another test was using a wagon or stroller. I do not doubt that Loki would have enjoyed this. I would enjoy being pulled around on a wagon. This method helped to rest his muscles. Rebekah was pulling out all of the tricks.
Woof On Wheels

The top trick Rebekah came up with was brought to life by Walkin’ Wheels. Loki got a standing wheelchair! It took him a while to get used to but soon Loki came alive again. He began running/wheeling around, being bribed with treats. During a trip to the park, Loki saw another dog running around Rebekah was filled with joy seeing Loki run after the dog and play with him. Soon after, Loki started swim therapy. The therapist targeted the muscles that would help him possibly move his legs again.
The Rise Of Loki

A couple of months after starting swim therapy, they started to see an improvement. Loki was slowly beginning to gain movement in his legs. Once this improvement showed, Loki began gaining confidence, thoroughly enjoying playing ball in the pool. 5 months after swim therapy began, Loki began walking on all four legs. He defied the odds! Loki was now able to live an able-bodied life, running around and jumping with other dogs. His pure excitement was seen as he bounced around the garden. This precious boy was ready to find his forever home.
