Sai was the skinniest puppy we had ever seen. Her ribs showed, her eyes were sunken, and she had no fat on her tiny frame. We didn’t know her past, only that she had been neglected. Yet, despite it all, she wagged her tail. She was happy just to be with people.

Sai had every reason to fear humans, but she didn’t. She pressed into us, craving warmth. I bonded with her right away. We spent the entire first day together. Sai’s new family fell in love with her instantly. They welcomed her with open arms. She, in turn, gave them all the love she had. They hiked together, explored new places, and cuddled every night. She fit right in. The joy on her face was unmistakable. She had found exactly where she was meant to be.

Sai thrives in her new home. She runs, plays, and enjoys every adventure. She has no memory of hunger or loneliness. Seeing her so happy is a reminder of why we do this work. Dogs like Sai deserve a second chance. When we see them living the life they were meant to, it makes everything worthwhile.
