After watching all those playful panda reels on Instagram, an angry aggressive panda is the last thing you would think of. But there’s always something surprising or shocking on social media and Ding Ding, a giant panda is going viral for all the wrong reasons. Viral footage has emerged of the panda going crazy, shoving itself against a door to prevent a keeper escaping and then attacking her, biting, and scratching too.
Panda Attack Shocks Chongqing Zoo

On September 19th, a female keeper entered Ding Ding’s enclosure at Chongqing Zoo as usual. The zoo located in Southwestern China is home to the largest number of giant pandas in China and is well known for their breeding program. It isn’t sure what triggered the panda, but suddenly it turned on the keeper. The woman tried escaping, but the Panda blocked her and threw its weight against the door shutting it.
A Frightening Struggle
The zookeeper screamed and tried struggling with the panda, but the animal would not allow her o escape. It surged forward, knocked, and pinned her down. The attack was captured on video, horrifying zoo visitors who watched as the panda bit the keeper’s arm. Screams from onlookers filled the air as the scene unfolded. The zookeeper eventually managed to escape while Ding Ding was distracted.
Chongqing Zoo’s Response

The Zoo authorities assured the public that new safety measures will be implemented to prevent future incidents. Although the zookeeper’s injuries were not life-threatening, the zoo did not provide further details. Ding Ding remained on display to the public following the attack.

Chongqing zoo was established in 1953 and has become popular for its panda breeding program. Besides, the zoo is also home to several exotic species including the South China Tiger and white tiger. Housed on 111 acres, it maintains the panda enclosures quite well. Since the attack, the Zoo has declared it would initiate further safety measures in place to ensure such incidents do not occur again in future.

The zoo is still investigating what might have gone wrong.
