Rescuers at a local shelter couldn’t believe their eyes. Outside, a box sat by the door, holding not just a dog but a small, heartfelt note. Inside was Rene, a young pittie, lying quietly. With him, a stuffed teddy bear. The note, written by a boy, would reveal a story of love, loss, and courage.
A Heart-Wrenching Reason

The boy, Andres, left Rene to save him. His father mistreated the dog, even injuring Rene’s tail. Fearing the worst, Andres and his mother acted. They couldn’t watch Rene suffer or risk him being sold. The note pleaded for help, expressing Andres’ hope for a safe future for his beloved friend.

Rene’s cardboard box contained more than him; it held a parting gift. Alongside him, Andres placed a well-worn teddy bear, Rene’s favorite. The boy’s farewell to Rene spoke volumes. The teddy bear represented their bond—a last gesture of love from a boy who did what he could to protect his friend.
The Journey to Recovery

After finding Rene, the shelter assessed his injuries, particularly his tail. His pain was real, but so was his spirit. Day by day, he’s healing, supported by rescuers who understand his story. Rene’s recovery isn’t just physical. He’s learning trust again, the bond he had with Andres giving him strength for his new start.
Rene now lives among other dogs, thriving in their company. Shelter staff are confident that he’ll find a forever home. This pittie has love to share, especially with adults and bigger dogs. One day, Rene will leave the shelter, carrying Andres’ love with him, ready for the new chapter that awaits him.
