Like Aries, the polar bear doesn’t wait to be found – it goes out and claims what it needs, boldly and without hesitation.
#2 Taurus (April 20 – May 20) – The Musk Ox
Taurus is dependable, grounded, and persistent, with loyalty and determination making them reliable partners and workers. The musk ox embodies all of that and then some. The muskox is certainly a heavyweight champion, weighing 315 kilograms while standing about chest-high on a human, and it has 10-centimetre-thick horns and wooly coats which allow it to withstand minus 40 degree weather.
When attacked by predators, musk oxen run to nearby higher ground and then form a circle with their rumps together and horns facing outwards, with calves staying close to their mothers’ sides while adults take turns rushing out to attack predators with their sharp horns. That’s Taurus to a tee – deeply protective, incredibly resilient, and someone you genuinely don’t want to cross.
#3 Gemini (May 21 – June 20) – The Arctic Fox
Gemini is curious, adaptable, and communicative, excelling in social settings and intellectual pursuits. The Arctic fox is one of the most adaptable creatures on the entire planet, an exceptionally skilled hunter that can be found throughout the Arctic region, from coastal to mountainous areas, using a keen sense of hearing to detect the faintest sounds of prey moving beneath the snow cover, then pouncing headfirst to catch a meal.
Arctic foxes are among the Arctic animals that change their fur coat seasonally – in summer they feature a brown or grey outfit that blends in perfectly with the rocky Arctic tundra, then grow a white winter coat when the days get shorter. Two versions of the same creature, perfectly suited to any situation. Gemini will absolutely understand that instinct.
#4 Cancer (June 21 – July 22) – The Beluga Whale
Cancer is nurturing, supportive, and sensitive, often described as the mother of the zodiac, bringing a comforting energy to those closest to them, with a gentle, supportive presence that is difficult to replicate. More than 21,000 beluga whales live year round in the eastern Arctic and are dubbed “canaries of the sea” due to their complex, melodic calls. Their world revolves around connection and communication.
Easily distinguished by their round forehead, beluga whales are super vocal and sociable in their pods and use a whole range of sounds to communicate, and are known to mimic what they hear. #5 Leo (July 23 – August 22) – The Snowy Owl
Leo is confident, magnetic, and creative, lighting up any room they enter and inspiring others to open up, with a boldness that gives others permission to be themselves. The snowy owl commands attention in exactly the same way. Snowy Owls are a large, powerful owl of the high Arctic tundra, colored for camouflage during northern winters. They’re unmistakable – dramatic in appearance and impossible to ignore.
Snowy owls, recognizable by their white plumage and dark markings, soar over the Arctic tundra and are unique for their daytime hunting, especially in summer. Most predators prefer the cover of darkness. The snowy owl hunts in full light – in plain sight, without apology. That’s the Leo energy in its purest form.
#6 Virgo (August 23 – September 22) – The Arctic Hare
Virgo is organized, analytical, and hardworking and isn’t afraid to go for exactly what they want, possessing the power and perseverance to achieve it. The Arctic hare is precision in animal form. These hares have acclimatized to the Arctic conditions with shortened ears and limbs, a small nose, lots of fat, almost 360-degree vision, and a fluffy coat of fur. Narwhals can dive as deep as 1,500 meters to catch prey, utilizing a specialized kind of echolocation in the form of clicks and buzzing sounds to locate their food in dark waters. They navigate darkness with precision that others simply can’t match. Scientists discovered that the tusk allows narwhals to sense salinity and water temperatures through porous parts of the tusk. Scorpio carries that same quality – perceiving things others miss entirely.
#9 Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21) – The Arctic Tern
Sagittarius is free-spirited, adventurous, and independent, bringing a sense of wanderlust to the zodiac and reminding other signs of the value of exploration and culture, with a go-with-the-flow attitude that inspires others to let loose. No animal on Earth covers more distance than the Arctic tern. Covering over 25,000 miles each year, they enjoy the Antarctic summer before returning to the Arctic just in time for the breeding season.

#11 Aquarius (January 20 – February 18) – The Wolverine
Aquarius is progressive, independent, and philanthropic, acting as the humanitarian of the zodiac and pushing for much-needed change in their community. The wolverine is the misfit of the Arctic – fiercely independent, wildly unconventional, and far more powerful than anyone expects. Tales of the ferocity of wolverine are legion, with remarkable toughness and tenacity in the face of apparently overwhelming odds.
Wolverines are solitary and fiercely territorial, with each male defending a large territory of up to 1,500 square kilometers, and a male wolverine might range as far as 24 kilometers in a day.
