In Florida, a lovable Pit Bull mix breed dog wound up out of the blue, she was wandering the streets of Michigan. Shivering in the cold, she hopefully glanced around the streets, seeming to be looking for something specific. Fortunately, the Humane Society of Midland County took action straight away, taking in the scared dog.
The dog, named Blue, seemed to be grateful when she was taken away. To the staffs relief, Blue had a microchip, which was a gateway home for the lost dog.
The Search
To start the search, the staff dialed the number that was linked to the microchip, and were met with astonishment when a woman answered from Florida. After the phone call the staff discovered that Blue had gone missing a week ago. Now the staff members were confused by the mystery of her long journey to Michigan.
The woman expressed her need to reunite with Blue, although the distance was great. This relived the shelter team. Eager to get the owner and dog reunited, they wasted no time in organising a volunteer to return Blue to her rightful home!
The shelter’s social media posting created a wave of compassion. It drew in hundreds of individuals touched by Blue’s story, with many people offering assistance in reuniting her with her owner!
The journey back to Florida was with Stephanie James, who was selected as the guardian to bring the lost dog to her rightful home. James, accompanied by her brother, made their way to the shelter to pick up Blue. At first sight, James found herself falling in-love with the precious canine instantly.
Setting off in James’ Chevy Blazer, the trio began the road trip to the Sunshine State. With Blue quickly forming a strong bond with her new companions. James was particularly moved when the pup nestled her head on her shoulder during the journey. Blue showered them with love and wet kisses along the way!
The 1,300 Journey Of A Dog
The trio finally reached the owner’s residence after 1,300 miles. They were greeted by the owner’s mother, but there was no sight of the 22-year-old owner… After arriving, Blue’s excitement showed as she recognized her surroundings. Furthermore, when Blue’s owner arrived, the excited canine began bouncing off the walls.
As Blue’s journey was discussed, questions came up regarding her mission to Michigan. Blue’s owner and her mother said that they left the dog in their backyard kennel while they were out. Furthermore, they were confused by how Blue ended up so far away from home.
“She’s an energetic and bright dog,” James remarked. “They suspect she wandered close to the freeway and someone must have picked her up.”
The Shocking Discovery
The shocking discovery started when Blue’s owner suggested to James that they should return Blue to the Michigan shelter! “She said to me, ‘Between my full-time schooling and job, I can’t give her the commitment she needs. You seem like wonderful people. Blue adores you. You’ve taken excellent care of her,'” James said, disbelief in her voice.
So, James and her brother brought Blue back to the car. As they drove away, Blue’s sad gaze pierced James’s soul.
“We reassured her, ‘You’ll be alright, Blue. We love you,'” she stated. She convinced herself that returning Blue to Michigan was in the dog’s best interest. Although James was considering taking Blue home herself, but she already had four rescue dogs in her care! James knew Blue would quickly find a new family.
On the way home, James contacted the Humane Society, letting them know of the owner’s decision. After hearing the news, the shelter shared an update on social media. This brought up a wave of heartbreak among the followers.
Pup Finds Her Perfect Match
Blue’s ending was still happy as she still found her perfect match! The shelter was busy with adoption inquiries in no time. A large number of individuals offered Blue the forever home she deserved.
Just two hours after James and her brother returned Blue to the shelter, Robert Allison, Blue’s new owner, was there to meet her. Having recently lost his beloved Pit Bull, he was excited to welcome another one into his life! When hearing Blue’s story, he immediately submitted an adoption application, excited when the shelter invited him to meet Blue.
Taking a break from work, Allison eagerly made his way to the shelter. As Blue spotted him, she dashed into his arms.
“I walked up, and she leaped onto me. She liked me right away” Allison stated with a smile.

On the very same day she found herself back at the shelter, Blue made her way back to her forever home with Allison. Blue made herself at home quickly, forever grateful for the love her new companion gave.
