Cubs of any species have a tendency to melt your heart, and these baby cheetah cubs playing with their mom are no different.
It’s easy to forget that they’re one of the world’s most skilled hunters when they act like this. Scroll down to watch the video!
A Mohawk-Like Coat?
A feature unique to cheetah cubs is their fluffy mantle (which I can’t help but think look like an adorable mohawk.) This unique, long hair running down their backs helps to camouflage them in the wild because it looks like grass blowing in the wind.
All in all, it’s a crucial defense weapon before they learn to defend themselves.
The Role the Metro Richmond Zoo Plays In the Global Cheetah Population
The Metro Richmond Zoo’s cares for all animals of course, but they’re especially dedicated to saving the world’s cheetah population from extinction. Their specialized Cheetah Conservation Center has been a birthplace for 77 cheetahs since 2013.
The Video
Cubs of any kind are bound to be utterly adorable, but these cheetah cubs playing with their mom are extra cute. In fact, I had no idea that their coat looked like this before they grew up? For a hot second, I almost mistook them for porcupines!
Not only are they cute, but they’re likewise a feat for Metro Richmond Zoo’s efforts to conserve this iconic species.
