Once rescued and sheltered, every dog dreams of discovering thier forever home. However, the heartbreaking reality is that many shelters face euthanasia lists, where senior or unwell dogs are often listed.
Noodle, a dog listed on this specific list, faced the imminent fate of euthanasia. This was due to his health issues and the fact he had not been adopted yet.
Unaware of his fate, Noodle lay in his kennel the night before his scheduled euthanasia, unaware that a certain woman was about to change his destiny forever!
Rescuing Noodle
Noodle, found himself at a Detroit shelter, diagnosed by a degenerative brain disease that caused him to experience frequent bouts of unconsciousness and instability. This meant Noodles chances of being adopted were low due to his health.
When Noodles time was up at the shelter, the veterinarian determined that euthanasia was the most compassionate option. So, his fate scheduled for the next day after the decision was made.
In this critical moment, Tiffany Perkins, the founder of PAWS Friend Network, stepped in. PAWS Friend Network is a sanctuary and advocacy network specializing in caring for paraplegic, amputee and senior shelter dogs. Perkins also provides hospice care for the senior canines.
Falling for the Charming Dog
On the night Noodle entered her thoughts, sleep eluded Tiffany. His image filled her mind, and the next morning, Tiffany was quick to try rescue Noodle.
Welcoming Noodle into her Detroit home, with his sweet nature, she fell in-love instantly! At first she was not sure if Noodle’s condition needed special care. So, Tiffany showered him with unconditonal love, giving him the best life imaginable.
Additionally, Noodle easily integrated with Tiffany’s other dog, Luke, forming a strong friendship. After time their company became unbreakable as they spent all day together!
the owner noticed Noodle’s undernourished state due to his long life on the streets, so Tiffany started giving noodle a specialized diet plan everyday. As she saw the gradual change in Noodle’s weight gain, she was happy with her decision and the progress.
As time went by, Perkins started to fully understand Noodle’s condition. Recognizing that his fainting stints came from excitement, she tried to create a sutiable enviroment for him as she could now predict his actions!
Making The Right Adjustments
Modifying her surroundings to accommodate Noodle’s needs, Perkins also lowered her bed to let him be able to move in and out independently.
Additionally, in an effort to maintain Noodle’s calmness, she also bought a lower couch which was positioned by the window. This allowed Noodle and his new sibling to gaze out window at the world outside.
“Watching him content and observing the world through his eyes brings me joy,” Perkins claimed.
