There are around large population in North Dakota and these are focused around border of three different regions like Montana, Minnesota, and South Dakota.

North Dakota is also known as one of the less famous states of United States. There are around three major regions found in North Dakota one is the Red River Valley which is in the east part, second one is the Drift Prairie and third one is the Missouri Plateau.

Large farmlands are found in Red River Valley, in drift prairie we can found large expanded grass lands for animals, at Missouri plateau one can find a large number of mountains which borders with Montana region. Missouri is in the west part of North Dakota.

There are wetlands, rivers, flood plains, forests which are found in North Dakota and as per some research it is said that there is very less forest areas in North Dakota . Badlands are also found in North Dakota which is also known as dry stretches.

They are the center of North America which gives them a variety of seasons from long winters to hot summers. Because of this one can find a wide variety of animals in North Dakota region. They are muscular in size with big horns on their head. They have chocolate brown color fur on their body. They are not agile in nature but they are very good in climbing which helps them from their predators. In summer season they used to eat clover, sedges, and grasses. And in winter season they eat woody plants like sage, willow. They can also eat cactus when they are in desert areas. Their stomach is dived into four sections which helps them in good digestion of food and chewing the food.

Due to this they have good capacity to absorb large amount of water and that can helps them in surviving without water for long time. Males usually prefer to live alone as compared to live in groups of females and new growing sheep.

New growing sheep live with their mother and groups followed by older ewe. They can live up to a life span of 10 years but it can vary as per the climate and environment changes like female sheep can live up to 15 years based on the population, area, surroundings and male sheep can live beyond 10 years of life span.

They are carnivorous animals and are dark color. They are semiaquatic animals such that they can live on ground as well as can swim under water. They belong to genera Neogale and Mustela family. Weasels, ferrets and otters are also belongs to this family.

There are two sub species of mink one is American Mink and another one is European mink both are extinct species and both are larger in size then these mink species. Both the subspecies of minks are exiting as their fur are use in clothing due to which their hunting is on high demand at some time and which may lead in extinction of these species. 

Male mink has weight around 1 kg and about 60 cm in length some male’s minks can each up to 3.2 kg in weight. On the other side female mink is around 600gm in weight and in length they are around 50 cm. The tail is around 12.8 – 22.8 cm in length which is not included in the above lengths description. They have brown to black color coat and its looks very silky in nature. Some minks can also have white color coat on their body. Fur is dark brown in color and some under parts are white in color too.

Their gestation period is around 39 days and female’s embryo also stops developing for some time which create a gap of 76 days as soon the baby mink comes. Approximately 45 – 52 days are taken in normal. Around 6 – 10 babies take birth at a time. Life span of a mink is around 10 years but can exceed up to 3 years. They mainly eat fish, other aquatic animals, birds, eggs. Those minks that are living on farms can eat cheese, meat, fish, eggs, dog food, and commercial foods. They are 15 – 19 cm in length and have a wingspan of 35 – 41 cm in length with a weight of 42 – 64 gm. They found near sand beaches, dry areas of water. Found at Atlantic cost of US, ocean and bay beaches near Great Lakes areas. They are found very rarely or can view very rarely near or outside the sand but during migration time they can be seen easily. They migrate from south to the Bahamas in winter season so can be found in winter season. They start their migration in mid of March month.

They mainly viewed in migration season. They found in Prairie Pothole Region of North Dakota. They mainly found in wetland areas and are very rare to see on the outside of sand lands. Found at Sand land, sand bars, gravelly beaches together with other animals in North Dakota.
