Dolphins are among the most intelligent creatures on Earth and have brains that are particularily large in relation to their body size. They exhibit complex behaviors such as problem-solving, self-awareness, and the ability to understand symbols and language basics.
Could a Dolphin Recognize a Human?
Research suggests that dolphins have the remarkable ability to recognize and remember humans – yet another proof of their brainy-ness.
They use both sight and sound to identify someone, and can recognize people even after years since they last saw them. This is not just about recognition, though; it is often accompanied by displays of affection or excitement, showing off both their IQ and EQ at the same time.
The Video
The video shows a little girl in front of what first seems to be an empty tank. Suddenly, a dolphin appears on the other side of the glass and comes face-to-face with the girl. By the looks of it the dolphin is just as mesmerized by her, as she by it – could she be the dolphin whisperer?
Either way, a few things are more beautiful when completely different species bond with each other – even if just for a few moments.
Why Are Dolphins So Friendly Toward Humans?
Overall, dolphins are notoriously friendly towards humans and don’t shy away from a playful chase with a boat. Dolphins’ friendliness towards humans most likely stems from them being exceptionally curious creatures. It is this innate (and adorable) curiosity that drives them to investigate other species.
That being said, it’s impossible to know why the dolphin in the video was so fascinated by the little girl on the other side of the glass. It almost seemed like more than their usual curiosity – could she be a dolphin whisperer?
Do Dolphins Smile?
Because of the permanent upturned curve of their mouth, dolphins look like they’re always smiling. Although it would be lovely to think that they’re permanently happy – this is not the case. Instead, to understand them, we must pay attention to their body language and different vocalizations.
