Rescued Fluffy Kitten Trapped Beneath Boulders

It was a quiet afternoon in Bristol, Virginia when Angela Ramsey and her daughter were running errands along Lee Highway and rescued a fluffy kitten. They stopped to eat lunch in their car. That’s when they heard a muffled yelp. It seemed to come from beneath them.

The Search Begins

The mother and daughter got out of the car to investigate. They could hear the cries of a cat but could not find it. Next Angela checked under the hood and listened closely. She still couldn’t see anything but could hear the distressed cat.

And Continues…

They continued searching and finally found a tiny kitten stuck in the wheel well above the front left tire. Evidently the kitten was trapped and couldn’t get free. Angela knew they had to act fast to save the little one.

Good Samaritans to the Rescue

A couple of Good Samaritans soon joined the rescue effort. They managed to coax the kitten out of the wheel well. But as soon as he was free, the scared kitten bolted. He ran to a nearby creek and disappeared into a pile of boulders along the bank. Burrowed deep within the rocks, he was unreachable once again.

Angela contacted the local animal control office for help. Officer Larry Boardwine arrived on the scene, followed by three sheriff deputies: Lindsey Clayman, Crystal Maldonado, and Summer Richards. They all tried their best, but the kitten remained out of reach.

A Team Effort

Just as hope was fading, Captain Maynard Ratcliff arrived. He had an idea. Captain Ratcliff called the Bristol Fire Department for help. The firefighters tried various methods to move the heavy rocks. After hours of effort, they finally succeeded. The kitten was pulled out from the boulder pile, safe and sound.

Angela’s best friend, who had been on FaceTime during the rescue, instantly fell in love with the kitten. She offered him a forever home. The rescuers named the kitten River. They hugged and kissed him before sending him off to his new family.

It’s been a couple of weeks since River’s rescue. The sweet kitten is thriving in his new home. Angela never expected to find a kitten that day, but she’s glad they did. Now, she gets to watch River grow up with her best friend.

“The kitten is now in very good hands with my best friend and is so loved,” Angela wrote. River’s adventure brought together a community and ended with a happy new beginning for the little kitten.
