Throughout U.S. history, certain animals have captured the public’s imagination, becoming symbols of bravery, loyalty, and heroism. Here are the top 10 most famous animals in American history.
1. Balto
Balto, a Siberian Husky, became a national hero in 1925 when he led his sled team through blizzard conditions to deliver life-saving diphtheria antitoxin to Nome, Alaska. His bravery helped save countless lives during the diphtheria outbreak.
2. Seabiscuit
Seabiscuit was a champion Thoroughbred racehorse during the Great Depression. His underdog story and numerous victories inspired a nation facing hard times, symbolizing hope and perseverance.
